Dementia now leading cause of death:
It has been released that Dementia, including Alzheimer’s Disease, is now a leading cause of death in England and Wales – overtaking heart disease.
“Last year, more than 61,000 people died of dementia – 11.6% of all recorded deaths”.
Cheese and butter are now in shortage:
The time has come that were on the horizon for a little while, shortages of cheese and butter are here. They are knocking on the door and becoming a reality. With Christmas creeping up around the corner also, cream is going to be a product that you could potentially struggle to get your hands on! Supplies are just not currently standing to be enough to be able to cope with the December celebrations. Nothing is going to improve unless the milk supplies start improving – but with the dairy farmers choosing to sell their milking cows instead, the future of the dairy industry is still in the dark.
Government working harder for Dementia:
A listening programme is in progress to educate and inform the British public on the truths about Dementia. The programme will use both online and in person methods to gather different stories, experiences and views of dementia in England.
The Department of Health is particularly interested in learning about dementia in diverse communities. Where voices aren’t heard from that often and they want to hear from as many people, both sufferers and carers, of dementia.
The first stage of the process will involve people diagnosed with dementia in the past two years taking an online survey about their experiences of dementia diagnosis, support and awareness.
“We want as many people as possible with experience of dementia to be engaged in our work on dementia so that we can improve the lives of those living with dementia and their carers today. During the course of the Dementia 2020 Challenge there will be a number of opportunities for people living with dementia and their carers to give their views and influence the work of the Dementia 2020 Challenge” – Department of Health.
